The month of May is marked in the United States as 'Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month' - to celebrate Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States. To participate in this national celebration, the volunteers from Washington DC Metro area and outside are united again to do a grand performance to display culture, tradition and food from Nepal.

ANS invites all community members and friends to participate in this event.

This is a wonderful opportunity to invite your friends and colleagues to introduce them to the Nepalese culture and food.

Heritage Nepal Festival Photo Contest 2017


On the occasion of 50 th anniversary of America-Nepal Society, Washington D.C., ANS announces the ANS Heritage and Festival Photo Contest 2017.

If you love to take photos or have taken photos that reflect Heritage and Festival, then we've an opportunity to display your photos in the ANS Heritage Nepal Festival 2017 at Centreville High School, Centreville VA.

If you are a professional, amateur or a beginner and have photos that reflect 'Nepal and U.S. Heritage and Festival', we encourage you to submit them to participate. There is NO FEE to participate; however, we want to make sure that photos are originally taken by the actual participants.

So hurry up. This is your chance to show the value and the importance of Heritage and Festival in our society and life and win amazing gift hampers for First Two place for Heritage and Festival, Second and Third place out of both.

Art Workshop during Heritage Nepal Festival 2017


Plein Air artist Rajendra KC will be conducting 'Art Workshop' from 2:30 pm until 6 pm at the Centreville High School on Sunday May 28, 2017 during the 'Heritage Nepal Festival' event.

If you have kid(s) and want to introduce them the art of painting, please bring them on this workshop.

Adults with sincere interests in painting are also encouraged to participate.

He recently authored "Nepal - it's Neighbors and the World". Journalist Sigdyal is currently in the DMV area and ANS would like to thank him for his availability to talk about his new release book.

About the Author:

Krishna Prasad Sigdyal is a veteran journalist, author, environmentalist and Founder and President of the Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists. Apart from his journalism career, he is also a successful businessman in Nepal. His recent book - Nepal, Neighbors and the World - is his fourth in a series that has received wide critical acclaim in Nepal.

Following are some of the positions he has held in various capacity is a testament to his commitment to environment and development in Nepal:

Earth Day 2017 - Community Cleanup

Dear community members and friends,

ANS executive team has announced a social event to creat awareness and promote environment friendly behaviour on the occasion of Earth Day 2017. The importance of earth is unlimited but the earth has been deteriorated with different human activities day by day.

ANS proudly requests all society members, friends, families and students to participate pond clean up activities. The event is supported by the Prince William Soil and Water Conservation District (PWSWCD). The education materials will be distributed to the people after clean up activities. Few intresting games will be performed to make event more fun and interesting. The winner will get the prizes. The volunteer credit hours will be provided to the participants if needed.

The America Nepal Society (ANS) Executive Committee would like to announce the following upcoming events, and would invite everybody to participate.


Established in 1967 in the Washington DC metro area, the ANS is one of the oldest organizations that has been serving the Nepalese expatriates and friends of Nepal since its inception. As of this year, it is a 47 year old institution, and has been evolving with the time along with the growing community members in the area. Many distinguished Americans and the people of Nepalese origin have contributed their time, efforts and talent to promote knowledge and understanding of the literature, arts, culture, values and other relevant information among the Americans and the Nepalese community in the country. ANS is run by volunteers and is a open forum. The current executive committee would like to invite all community members to join ANS and participate and volunteer in our programs.

  1. Tax Workshop; Affordable Care Act, Social Security and Your Lost Money Workshop:  –

Tax season is approaching soon and there are things that need to be prepared prior to the end of the year to maximize refund, so what are they? You will learn how to maximize your refund by complying tax rule. Deductions and many more questions and answer you will have from our own tax experts.


Do you know how or when do you qualify for Social Security benefits?


Do you have any Lost Money? Our tax expert will help to check it, find it and claim on your behalf (if any, will be surprised)!

  1. Participation in 69th Manassas Christmas Parade: This famous parade in Northern Virginia draws 60k plus visitors each year. This year ANS will be participating to show our diversity and uniqueness of our culture, dresses and promote Nepal’s tourism. We invite all community members, past and present ANS members, to join this parade with your family and friends for a fun filled Saturday morning.


When and Where: Saturday December 6, 2014, 10 am Old Town Manassas. The parade route begins at Mathis Ave and concludes at the intersection of Center Street and Grant Ave. Meeting point address: 8948 Mathis Ave, Manassas, VA 20110  by  9:30 AM
